(Forgive Me) My Little Flower Princess
Love needs expression, whether "I love you" or "Forgive me"

John poured his devotion into this song for Yoko, released posthumously in 1984. The simple, almost childlike language mirrors the fresh love John was feeling for Yoko. Even after years together, John kept finding new ways to express his feelings.
Ongoing expression of love is the key to sustaining relationships. The song reminds us that love isn't a one-time declaration but a continuous conversation. Saying "I love you" today doesn't replace needing to say it tomorrow, that apologizing once doesn't eliminate the need for future apologies.
Humility in relationships requires acknowledging when you've caused harm. The song is literally an apology, John asking forgiveness for something specific. His willingness to name his need for Yoko's grace shows the vulnerability that keeps love alive rather than letting pride kill it.
Never assume your partner knows how you feel without you saying it. John was famous globally, could have assumed Yoko knew his devotion, but he kept expressing it anyway. The song shows that repetition of love isn't redundant; it's necessary.
Today, I will express love or ask for forgiveness rather than assuming the important people in my life already know what I feel.
What have you left unsaid because you assume it's obvious? How might explicit expression of love or remorse strengthen a relationship you've been taking for granted?
Join April's New Beginnings Lessons
When George Harrison walked out of a contentious business meeting in 1969 and into Eric Clapton's garden, he discovered the strategic power of renewal. The song he wrote that afternoon, "Here Comes the Sun," would become The Beatles' most-streamed track and a masterclass in navigating transitions. Throughout April, we'll explore how their approach to new beginnings, strategic retreats, and turning endings into opportunities provides actionable frameworks for leaders navigating organizational transitions, career pivots, and transforming uncertainty into growth in every area of life.
