Any Road

All sincere paths lead to wisdom when traveled with genuine intention

September 17

Simple black and white line drawing of multiple winding paths converging toward a single distant mountain peak, with small figures walking different routes - some through forests, others across fields, all heading toward the same destination, minimalist style emphasizing the journey over the destination

Released posthumously on George's final album "Brainwashed," "Any Road" distills a lifetime of spiritual seeking into one last expression of gentle wisdom. George spent decades exploring Eastern philosophy, spirituality, meditation, gardening, and music in his search for divine truth. His message was beautifully simple: the specific road you take on earth is not as important as your spiritual journey.

Often we become paralyzed by choosing the "perfect" path, the right career, the best school, the ideal vacation spot. George's insight cuts through this anxiety with characteristic gentleness. Those choices matter far less than choosing forgiveness, love, and understanding.

“Any Road” was inspired by a sign George saw with his son Dhani in Hawaii. The sign read, “if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” The insight George reveals is that you can travel any road in this world, but the road that matters is both internal and spiritual. The diverse roads we take should enhance rather than threaten each other.

Depending on materialism for fulfillment leads to disappointment. George's wisdom reminds us that the journey itself can transform us. Every sincere step teaches something valuable, even when it feels like wandering. The road you're on right now, traveled with good intentions and openness to learning, is already leading you where you need to go.

Today, I will trust that my current path is important, but not as important as choosing forgiveness, love, and understanding.

What path have you been questioning that might deserve more trust and commitment? How could embracing your current journey with greater intention reveal wisdom you've been overlooking?

Join March's Metal Health Lessons

When John Lennon admitted "Help! I need somebody" in 1965, he shattered expectations for rock stars by choosing vulnerability over invincibility. That radical honesty revealed how The Beatles understood that acknowledging struggle doesn't diminish strength, it creates the foundation for sustainable success. Throughout March, we'll explore how their approach to mental wellness, emotional honesty, and inner refuge provides actionable frameworks for leaders navigating burnout, anxiety, and unprecedented pressure in every area of life.
