Feeling The Sunlight

The simplest pleasures often carry the deepest satisfaction

April 21

Person with face tilted up toward simple sun, hands open to receive warmth, minimal composition emphasizing simple pleasure

Light provides warmth and illumination. Ringo released this Paul-written track in 2023, with Paul adding harmony vocals. This hopeful song celebrates simple pleasures like warmth on your skin. This collaboration between the two former bandmates shows how deep connections can remain for decades.

In their lives, both Ringo and Paul have experienced extraordinary success and devastating loss. Yet here they are, celebrating something as simple as sunshine. This song speaks to the wisdom of noticing life’s gifts like sunshine and friendship.

Gratitude is the key to giving us a positive perspective. Feeling the sunlight and spreading peace and love throughout the world remains their vision after all these years. No amount of fame, fortune, or accomplishment surpassed the joy of basic human warmth.

Having lived through everything Ringo and Paul experienced, it is remarkable that they continue to be a positive force for hope and love. They continue to appreciate the small things like sunlight and friendship.

The simplest pleasures in life are often overlooked. In this hyper-connected world, we often miss what nature offers. If you are too busy to appreciate the joy of warmth on your skin, you are too busy.

Today, I will pause to notice and appreciate simple pleasures I usually take for granted, like sunlight, breath, or a simple kindness.

What simple pleasure have you stopped noticing in your pursuit of something more impressive? How might appreciation for basics create more lasting satisfaction than chasing the next achievement?

Join April's New Beginnings Lessons

When George Harrison walked out of a contentious business meeting in 1969 and into Eric Clapton's garden, he discovered the strategic power of renewal. The song he wrote that afternoon, "Here Comes the Sun," would become The Beatles' most-streamed track and a masterclass in navigating transitions. Throughout April, we'll explore how their approach to new beginnings, strategic retreats, and turning endings into opportunities provides actionable frameworks for leaders navigating organizational transitions, career pivots, and transforming uncertainty into growth in every area of life.
