THE WISDOM OF THE BEATLES
Be inspired by the most iconic band of our generation.
She Loves You
Instead of "I love you," The Beatles sang "She loves you," changing the focus from themselves to offering support and advice to a friend.
July 27

Perspective matters in relationships and leadership. Most love songs center the singer: "I love you," "I need you," "I want you." But when Paul and John wrote "She Loves You," they stepped out of the first person to become messengers of someone else's relationship.
Rather than making themselves the heroes, they invited others to be the subject of the song. "She loves you” was a clever innovation that put The Beatles’ in the role of friend and adviser to others. It became the biggest selling single in UK history and ignited Beatlemania. This generous approach offers a powerful lesson - people respond when we reach into their world.
Instead of competing for attention, The Beatles chose facilitating connection between two other people. There's something magical about genuine support, whether it's leaders celebrating team achievements or friends championing each other's relationships.
Despite the positive encouragement of the song, it also warns about the danger of letting pride get in the way of reconciling with someone who loves you. If you’ve hurt someone, apologize. When pride drives our actions, we miss opportunities for genuine connection.
Every day offers chances to be a support to others. When we switch the focus to others, it is amazing how many people we can see who need a friend. More importantly, when we do that, we create more joy for everyone, including ourselves.
Today, I will look for one opportunity to be a friend or advisor for someone in need.
Whose joy could you support today? How might stepping away from focusing on yourself create more light for others?
