Ticket to Ride
Growth requires making others uncomfortable - not everyone follows where you're going
March 13

Riding toward new destinations sometimes means leaving others behind. John considered "Ticket to Ride" one of the earliest heavy metal records, with droning guitars and unusually complex rhythm. The song marked a shift toward more sophisticated music and production, even if that made some fans uncomfortable with the change.
Innovation inevitably creates discomfort for those attached to the old version. The Beatles were leaving simple pop behind and heading somewhere new. Ringo delivers one of his finest performances with the song's distinctive lurching beat, proving the band's musical growth required all of them to up their game.
Demanding audiences accept your evolution is part of growth. Not everyone appreciated this heavier, more complex direction initially. Some longed for the simpler "She Loves You" days. But The Beatles refused to stay frozen in what had worked before.
Eventually, the brave ones who push boundaries prove their wisdom. This track's influence on rock music shows that initial discomfort often precedes recognition. The Beatles trusted their artistic instincts even when it meant losing some fans along the way.
Today, I will take one step toward growth even if it makes others uncomfortable with my evolution.
What growth are you postponing because you're afraid of others' reactions? How might trusting your own direction matter more than keeping everyone comfortable?

When John Lennon admitted "Help! I need somebody" in 1965, he shattered expectations for rock stars by choosing vulnerability over invincibility. That radical honesty revealed how The Beatles understood that acknowledging struggle doesn't diminish strength, it creates the foundation for sustainable success. Throughout March, we'll explore how their approach to mental wellness, emotional honesty, and inner refuge provides actionable frameworks for leaders navigating burnout, anxiety, and unprecedented pressure in every area of life.
