Walk With You

The foundation of true friendship is love

January 29

Two sets of footprints walking side by side on a path that extends into the distance. Sustained companionship.

Wandering through life feels easier with genuine companions. This Ringo song from his 2010 album "Y Not" is a hidden gem that reunites Ringo with Paul, who plays bass and provides beautiful backing vocals. The song is a celebration of friendship. In keeping with our monthly theme of universal love, today we focus on the love among friends.

Appreciation for enduring friendship runs deep in this track. After decades of shared history, losses, and evolution, hearing Ringo and Paul singing together carries extra weight. They've walked through the highest highs and lowest lows together. They've lost bandmates. They've created magic. They've disagreed and reconciled. The warmth in their voices reflects all those years of choosing friendship.

Lasting bonds require consistent choice and effort. Ringo and Paul didn't stay friends automatically; they maintained connection through the decades. When others might have let relationships fade, they kept showing up for each other. This song celebrates that commitment, acknowledging that the best friendships are built through mutual support over time.

Knowing someone will walk beside you changes everything. The song's title and message reflect what we all seek: companions who won't abandon us when the road gets difficult. True friendship means "I'll walk with you" through whatever comes, not just "I'll celebrate with you" when things are good. Paul's willingness to show up for Ringo's project decades later demonstrates this enduring loyalty.

Today, I will reach out to one friend to express appreciation for walking beside me through life's journey.

Which friendships have you been taking for granted? Who has walked with you through difficult times and deserves to hear how much that mattered?

Join January's New Beginnings and Renewal

When George escaped a tense business meeting in 1969 and retreated to Eric's garden, he created space for breakthrough. That afternoon produced "Here Comes the Sun," teaching us that renewal doesn't require perfect conditions. The Beatles mastered fresh starts during difficult transitions, demonstrating that new beginnings emerge when you acknowledge winter, recognize incremental progress, and start imperfectly with what you have. Discover how their approach provides actionable frameworks for leaders navigating change and organizational transformations today.
