Wanderlust

Restlessness can be a gift when it fuels exploration

April 7

Winding road disappearing into horizon, simple backpack and walking stick, compass rose in corner, open landscape suggesting endless possibilities

Travel calls to certain souls with irresistible urgency. Paul captured this restless urge to keep moving in his 1982 track, celebrating the pull of unknown horizons. Even after conquering the world with the Beatles, he still felt that itch to explore. The song acknowledges that some people are built to keep seeking.

Opportunities for discovery require willingness to leave comfort behind. The drive to see what's next can be an exciting way to live. His melody wanders like a traveler, never quite settling into predictable patterns. The music itself embodies the restless spirit it celebrates.

Building a life around exploration doesn’t have to be running away. The song distinguishes between healthy curiosity and unhealthy escape, suggesting that wanderlust comes from abundance rather than lack.

Embracing your nature rather than fighting it leads to authenticity. If you're someone who needs movement, variety, and new horizons to feel alive, that's not a flaw requiring correction. Paul's celebration of wanderlust gives permission to honor that restless energy instead of viewing it as a problem to solve.

Today, I will honor my internal sense of adventure.

What restless energy in your life might be calling you toward growth rather than signaling dissatisfaction? How could you channel wanderlust into purposeful exploration?

Join April's New Beginnings Lessons

When George Harrison walked out of a contentious business meeting in 1969 and into Eric Clapton's garden, he discovered the strategic power of renewal. The song he wrote that afternoon, "Here Comes the Sun," would become The Beatles' most-streamed track and a masterclass in navigating transitions. Throughout April, we'll explore how their approach to new beginnings, strategic retreats, and turning endings into opportunities provides actionable frameworks for leaders navigating organizational transitions, career pivots, and transforming uncertainty into growth in every area of life.
